Zoocasa survey ranks cities based on the amount homeowners pay in property taxes
Have you ever wondered where Niagara’s biggest city ranks in terms of property taxes?
According to a recent survey by the real estate agency Zoocasa, St. Catharines has one of the highest property tax rates of 35 Ontario cities included in the study.
In fact St. Catharines is in the top 10 with a rate of 1.44 percent .
Compare that to Toronto with a rate of .61 percent.
The only other Niagara municipality included on the list is Niagara Falls, with a property tax rate of 1.3 percent.
The highest rate is in Windsor where Zoocasa says someone who owns a home valued at a million dollars would pay over $18,000 a year in property taxes.
