The City's task force is working on a memorial that will allow generations to remember the sacrifices made by local fallen firefighters.
The task force is headed by St. Catharines resident Barry Katzman, who says he envisions a place for people to honour those who died in the line of duty.
"I want it to be a testimony to the firefighter profession - a historic and noble profession and a brotherhood committed to saving lives and putting themselves in harms way."
The Fallen Firefighters Memorial Task Force was created in 2019, and this past August, a location was chosen for the tribute.
It will be in a parkette at the corner of Carlisle and Race Street.
It will pay tribute to members of the St. Catharines Fire Services who died in the line of duty, as well as volunteer firefighters in local wards and townships prior to 1919.
Artists can apply for consideration here.
