St. Catharines will set aside $646,351 over the next five years to help Hospice Niagara build two new facilities in the Region.
Council approved the funding in principle Monday night but it's not official until other municipalities decide to contribute as well.
Each facility would offer 10 beds for palliative care patients in the Region.
This would be in addition to other 10 bed facility Hospice Niagara currently operates in St. Catharines.
Hospice Niagara offers free end of life care for palliative patients.
