An impressive 2025 for the City of St. Catharines and getting homes built.
The city says it was a record year for building permits, and starting individual home construction, with the help of the federal government.
Permits were issued for 1,025 new units, exceeding its target by 310, and beating its last 9-year trend by more than 500.
The city also supported 1,001 of those units with $4.5-million in Housing Accelerator Funds.
The city adds it's also waiting for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to confirm it'll provide $6.4-million in 3-year funding this year.
And, this year the city is expected to provide permits, in the coming weeks, for another 500 units, along with more major projects anticipated.
