Lou Ferrigno here without costume
As you make your way around Niagara Falls this weekend, keep an eye out for the Incredible Hulk, the original.
Lou Ferrigno is in town, meeting fans at Comic Con, reminiscing about what the Hulk meant for them.
He recalls the show almost didn't make it, when Richard Keil, who became Jaws in James Bond, was trying for the Hulk. "They were considering shelving the pilot, so they did a nation-wide casting call, they figured they'd give it one more shot, so they brought me into the audition. I won the audition, because I fit the part perfect, that saved the whole show."
He says he's recently done work on 5 movies.
He appreciates hearing from fans how different episodes of that show affected their lives, even 50-years later. "It's wonderful because it's something that's endless, it goes on forever. It gives me a chance to travel all over the world, but the nice thing I love about Niagara Falls, I've been here before, it's become like a 2nd home, because I just love the people, the attractions, the whole city is amazing."
He adds he lost 85% of his hearing as a child from an infection, leading to a speech impediment, and feeling like the Hulk in overcoming personal battles.
