Today is the one year anniversary of the World Heath Organization declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic
Since then the number of confirmed cases across Canada has climbed to almost 900,000.
Over 22,000 Canadians have died from the virus, around the world the death toll stands at 2.5 million.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will deliver a statement about the pandemic in the House of Commons this morning, on this national day of observance.
The government has asked Canadians to think about those whose lives were claimed by the novel coronavirus, as well as the brave front-line work done by health-care and other essential workers.
