It's pointing at the Niagara region for no stop sign, or speed reduction
The Niagara region not given too much love from the City of Thorold over getting traffic to slow down on Beaverdams Road.
Council agreed speeding is a problem near Van Stralen-Griffiths dog park, and a 3-way stop sign is needed at Pine Street.
Most councillors blamed the region, including Jim Handley. "Here's a perfect example of over governance. It's a City of Thorold issue, it's a road within the city boundary, yet we cannot make the decision to do something about safety, of residents both at the dog park and the 3-way stop."
Councillor Henry D'Angela added the region wants more stats to warrant a 3-way stop.
Councillor Anthony Longo encouraged Mayor Terry Ugulini to keep advocating. "If the City of Thorold could control this, we'd vote to reduce the speed tonight, and city crews would go out there tomorrow, and put a sign up. Yet, we need a number of engineers and people to do studies."
Councillor Carmen DeRose noted it's a dangerous area, despite Niagara regional stats showing otherwise.
