Tony Baldinelli will be the next MP for the Niagara Falls riding.
The Conservative candidate be taking over for Rob Nicholson, who served as our Conservative MP for 24 years.
"Rob is the embodiment of what's good in politics. He's in it for the right reasons. Ultimately it's about helping people and that's what I hope to continue to do during my time as a Member of Parliament."
Baldinelli considers Nicholson to be a mentor of his, after working for him for six years while in Ottawa.
He says he wants to make life more affordable for people in Niagara and beyond.
"Life is hard enough without government getting in the way and making it even more difficult. So what is it that we can do to make life more affordable so that Canadians and hard working residents here in the area can get ahead and not just by."
Nationally, the Liberals secured a minority government with 157 seats, with the Conservatives following behind with 121 seats.
"Our seat count went up and we have seats in every region of the country, which is great news. We by far have the largest popular vote in the entire country. We're the official opposition and we're going to be holding this government to account."
