Simcoe man facing charges
NRP say police were out on patrol Saturday afternoon just after 4:00 in the Manchester Avenue and Hampstead Place area when they tried to conduct a traffic stop on an Infinity sedan.
The vehicle would not stop but eventually pulled into a parking space in the area.
A female passenger got out of the car and tried to flee the scene.
Officers approached the vehicle with the driver still inside and discovered Canadian currency wrapped in a rubber band and a bullet proof vest in plain view.
A further search the car turned up a loaded 40 calibre Ruger handgun.
Police then arrested 25 year old Calvin Matthew J. Kostuk of Simcoe charging him with a number of firearm related offences.
During his arrest the female passenger returned and police arrested and charged 27 year old Victoria Ann Harvey of St Catharines as well.
