She has directed senior staff to come up with new solutions for the Thorold Tunnel and report back.
Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney responded to a question from Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch in the Ontario Legislature yesterday.
Burch talked about an alleged plan to switch the tunnel to one-way traffic.
He wanted to know if Mulroney is willing to listen to local politicians and if she'll take steps to maintain the current traffic configuration in the tunnel.
In her response, Mulroney said she had received a letter from Niagara's NDP MPPs about this earlier this week.
She also spoke with Conservative Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff about it. He suggested that the Ministry consult with municipal stakeholders.
Mulroney says she recognizes and appreciates the difficulties that the closures at the Thorold Tunnel are having on motorists in the area.
