Five paramedics with Niagara EMS have tested positive with COVID-19 to date.
Chief Kevin Smith says one of them tested positive while still on the job, so they have ordered 26 other paramedics to go onto self-isolation as a precaution.
He says none of them have tested positive themselves.
Smith also says no patients are at risk because the infected paramedic was always wearing full protective gear while on the job.
Niagara EMS employees are required to self-assess themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.
