More Fort Erie residents will soon have access to high speed internet.
The projects will bring expanded service along the Niagara Parkway between Switch Road to the North and Thompson Road to the South.
People in the Point Albino neighbourhood will also have access to the service.
The Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) initiative awarded Bell Canada withe funding for the fibre-to-the-home projects.
Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop says the pandemic has highlighted the need for reliable high-speed internet in the area.
"The on-set of COVID-19 made this issue one of urgency for individuals who are now working from home, attending school or communicating with family and friends remotely. I am very happy that our hard work has paid off and that Fort Erie will benefit from increased connectivity by tapping into the SWIFT initiative."
More details on the high-speed fibre-optic broadband service coming to Fort Erie will be released in June.
