About 1500 special needs educators within the DSBN and Niagara Catholic have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The boards have both expressed gratitude to Niagara Health and Niagara Region Public Health for administering the shots.
Larry Huibers, Chair of Niagara Catholic's Board of Trustees, says this is an important step forward.
"The safety and well-being of our students and staff is the most important consideration for Niagara Catholic, and ensuring that staff who work with some of our most vulnerable students are vaccinated is the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus."
In January, the province announced that under Phase Two of the province's vaccine rollout plan, educators will be eligible to receive doses.
