Residents of Welland are being reminded to be cautious with open-air fires.
Citizens are being asked to always ensure flames are contained within a metal, masonry or ceramic closure device without openings.
You're also advised not to burn on smoggy days, and to only burn in backyards.
Fires need to be controlled in such a way that flames and hot embers don't pose a risk of fire to nearby combustible materials.
Rural properties can secure burn permits by contacting Fire Prevention.
