If you live in Welland, your taxes are going up by 3.15%, or roughly $56 annually for the average house valued at $230,000.

City council finalized next year's budget, and is waiting for the region's and school board's, before mixing the three for the final rate.

The city says the operating budget totals over $113-million for next year, this one being the first under Strong Mayor powers.

Mayor Frank Campion proposed the budget, with city council introducing 52 changes, of which 14 were adopted.

Budget highlights include about $7.5-million for roads, $6.5-million for wastewater, $5.1-million for water and roughly $4-million for parks.
