On-demand service to begin May 1st.
On-demand transit will soon be available in Welland.
Beginning May 1st, on-demand service with Welland Transit will begin.
The service is ending its previous program with TransCab, which was operated through partnerships with local taxi providers.
In June, Council approved the procurement of RideCo, an on-demand scheduling service.
Trips will be booked through the RideCo app or by telephone, providing customers with a guaranteed arrival time.
Officials say the on-demand service will cost $5 per trip and run Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Transit has been expanded to Welland's entire geographical range in order to reduce traveling time for riders.
