William Reilly calling out Harold Jonker for missing multiple meetings
A battle has begun between two West Lincoln town councillors.
Councillor Harold Jonker has been camped out in Ottawa since January 28th supporting and participating in the Freedom Convoy protests, causing him to miss several council meetings.
Fellow councillor William Reilly calling out his colleague in a series of tweets noting " I'm all for peaceful protesting and I too like my eggs sunny side up but Councillor Jonker you’re still being paid as a councillor, cashing your cheque yet you’ve missed four of the last five committee and council meetings with no clear idea when you're coming back."
Jonker then attended a council meeting virtually from Ottawa.
But that did not satisfy Reilly who tweeted out "I call on Councillor Jonker to either resign his seat if he’s going to continue to neglect his municipal responsibilities or to resume representing the residents of Ward 2 at Council."
Jonker, however, tells the CBC he is staying in the nation's capital even under threat of severe penalty from the federal government for continuing to participate in the Ottawa blockade.
