Environment Canada upgrades to warning
A wind warning is now in effect for Niagara Falls, Welland and the southern tier.
Environment Canada upgraded the special weather statement for the southern part of Niagara as winds are expected to top 90 km/hr.
Strong winds are continuing with the worst being felt along the Lake Erie shoreline.
Power outages and damage to buildings is possible.
North Niagara remains under a special weather statement with wind gusts expected around 80 km/hr.
The winds are not expected to die down until after midnight.
