Toronto Maple Leaf Fans are donating to the John Tavares Foundation in droves today.
In what was one of the scariest moments in recent hockey history, Maple Leaf's captain John Tavares suffered a serious injury after colliding with Corry Perry in the Toronto vs Montreal game last night.
Tavares had been knocked to the ground by Montreal's Ben Chiarot and then was hit in the head by the knee of Perry, who was rushing down the ice during the play.
When Tavares first tried to get back up, he appeared to faint back to the ground as the camera then cut away. He spent the night in the hospital in observation. The team confirmed today that Tavares suffered a concussion and will be out indefinitely.
Today Leaf fans are showing their support by donating to the John Tavares Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to help kids everywhere understand the importance of proper nutrition and embrace healthy lifestyle options that fuel both their passions and potential. By equipping them with essential resources we can support their physical, cognitive and emotional well-being.
Leaf fans have also got #WinItForJT trending on social media today as, fans continue to send him well wishes. You can donate to the John Tavares Foundation online here.
