Woman/Son Wade Through Knee High Flood

After flooding, supplied by Diana Odhoch

St. Catharines woman losing basement apartment after flood

A St. Catharines woman revealing the scary moments when she realized her basement apartment was flooded Monday night.

Diana Odhoch was half asleep in her bed at around 3am, when she suddenly noticed brown, smelly water almost to her mattress.  "The water was coming from the floor, there was a vent by the floor, and the water was coming through that vent."

She says her top concern... reaching her young son in a nearby room.  "It was scary, it wasn't easy because I had extension cables on the floor, and it was flooded, so all I could pray was for God to keep me safe, and don't let me get electrocuted.  I put my feet into the water."

They made their way outside into the storm, to a nearby friend's house.

She prayed as she and her son waded through knee high water outside.  "The dressers are gone, the mattresses are gone, the beds are gone, some of my electrical equipment on the floor and the shelf is gone."

She is working with the insurance company to rebuild what she lost.
