Two women were hurt, and Fort Erie man arrested, after morning standoff with police at a George Road address
A Fort Erie man has been arrested, and two women hurt, one with life-threatening injuries, in relation to a morning standoff with police.
The NRP was called just before 6, yesterday morning, to an address on George Road for a disturbance. While heading there, police learned a woman had been stabbed several times and fled.
Upon arrival, police say they evacuated the victims and neighbouring apartments, sending one woman to an out-of-region hospital with life threatening injuries, and another woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Police also surrounded the building, and negotiated with a man until 10:21, when he walked out and was arrested without incident.
Police have charged 27-year old Patrick Sassano with attempted murder, intimidation by violence, and 2 counts of assault.
He remained in police custody, with a bail hearing today.
Police also say the victim and accused know each other, and there is no on-going risk to public safety.
