Organizers for Coldest Night of the Year walk say the problem is getting worse
Your chance to raise money and awareness for people in Niagara struggling without a home or food is coming.
Project Share's Coldest Night of the Year walk is February 28th, starting at St. Paul high school, with the goal to raise $70,000 for the Housing Program.
Executive Director AJ Heafey says the focus is expanding beyond the homeless. "When you look at how much it costs even for a one bedroom apartment, someone who's working at minimum wage will have difficulty keeping up with rent. But then trying to keep up with grocery costs, sometimes it's so overwhelming."
The lead sponsor is Meridian, and the University of Niagara Falls is the co-sponsor.
He says Project Share works with other social agencies in Niagara. "We have a share point platform that we use online, and we meet regularly as executives of this group, collaborative in that effort, to speak with each other."
Our radio stations, 101MoreFm, and 105 The River will be live on location.
