An arrest has been made after a minor reported a sexual assault.
Police were called to a local hospital around 1:30 yesterday afternoon after a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted in a wooded area on Merritt Island in Welland.
The victim met the suspect about an hour before talking to police.
Detectives attended the area around 8:00 p.m. last night to search for evidence and found a man that matched the description of the suspect.
Further investigation led to his arrest.
Forty year old Aaron Jacob Davis of no fixed address has been charged with sexual assault.
A bail hearing has been set for later today.
Detectives wish to speak with a man and a woman walking on the trails who gave the girl a ride after she sought their help.
