The ban on flights from Pakistan and India has been extended.
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra made the announcement today, noting flights from India and Pakistan are now prohibited until June 21st.
The ban was originally imposed on April 22nd.
Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Howard Njoo says due to the spread of concerning variants in Canada, tight border measures are needed.
"At the border, it’s another layer of protection, it’s all a matter of what we call risk tolerance and risk management..the actual traffic, in terms of air traffic and land traffic, has gone down substantially and essentially it’s only certain individuals, essential workers who are allowed to cross the border."
