Want to know if the lake water is safe to swim in?
The Niagara Region is once again providing results of public beach water testing online on its website.
Regional officials say beaches will be posted unsafe for swimming when water tests show unacceptable levels of E.coli bacteria.
The levels are impacted by a list of conditions including birds, wildlife and large numbers of swimmers,
Officials note swimming in lake waters with high levels can cause infections of the ear, eye, nose, throat and skin as well as diarrhea if the water is ingested.
Beaches will also be marked unsafe or closed because of excessive algae growth, flooding, garbage or debris, spills or bad odours.
