Vaughan based contractor says it'll be a Hampton by Hilton near the QEW
If you're driving along Ontario Street in Beamsville, near the QEW, you'll notice construction of a hotel has started.
Gary Ulias is with General Contractor BCM out of Vaughan, and says it's a 5-storey, 100 room Hampton by Hilton.
He says the vast majority of material and labour will be from Ontario. "You can buy structural steel for half the price from China, we don't do that. We support all the local steel companies, masonry, concrete.... there are exceptions, decorative tile gets flown in from overseas."
He says the plan is for a 16-month construction period.
A man who owns businesses in Beamsville is investing $20-million to build.
Ulias says Aftab Quisar decided it was needed for the area. "So, he went and interviewed a few of the brands, such as Holiday Inn, Marriott, Hilton... and the Hilton Hampton style design is best suited for that market."
