Update: Police give more description of murder victim found near shoreline, say this happened sometime over the last 3.5 years
Update: September 9th
Police now say this is murder, and while they don't know who the victim was, they can say he was black, about 18 to 22 years old, 5'10 to 6'3 tall, with a muscular build.
They also believe this happened between late 2021 and the spring of this year, and the current description of the victim does not match any outstanding missing persons reports in Niagara.
Original Story:
We now know why police have been seen swarming over an area in Niagara on the Lake.
They say they were called Sunday afternoon to find a human skull had been found, near Read Road and the shore of Lake Ontario.
Police secured the area, and yesterday they found full skeletal remains, but due to the state of decomposition, police can't say much more at this time.
However, they are treating this as suspicious, and the homicide unit has taken over.
Police add they'll be there for a while as they do more thorough searches of the area.
