Remax real estate agent Rob Golfi says people from Toronto see the big advantage in Niagara
If you're considering living in Niagara, a real estate agent encourages now is the time, as are many from Toronto.
Rob Golfi is from Remax, says for St. Catharines, the benchmark price last year for a house was $595,000, the previous year it was $610,000.
He adds the same is happening in Niagara Falls. "Niagara Falls, housing prices, in 2022, the benchmark price was $700,000, even higher than St. Catharines. So, Niagara Falls is becoming even more of a hotspot."
He adds sellers did well back in 2021, 2022, when inflation was really high.
While people in Niagara may feel home ownership is not affordable, it is compared to other parts of Ontario.
He points to people currently in Toronto. "Some of them can work out of their houses, some can't, so they either have to find a local job. And the ones that can work out of their houses, for them moving toward Niagara, they're getting Toronto wages, and living in Niagara, which is a big bonus for them."
He adds housing prices have doubled in 10-years, with Niagara is still cheaper.
