CAA Niagara says it's important to plan ahead when it comes to holiday celebrations.
The holidays are approaching, and CAA Niagara is encouraging you to celebrate with caution.
The company says if you plan to enjoy a few cocktails or a cannabis-infused treat, you need to plan ahead for a safe ride home.
According to a CAA study by DIG Insights, about 1.2 million Ontarians have gotten behind the wheel while high.
The group also notes that cannabis is second to alcohol as the drug most frequently involved in crashes caused by impaired driving.
If you do plan to consume alcohol or cannabis during your holiday celebrations, CAA suggests getting a designated driver, take public transit, or get a taxi or rideshare service.
