Thirty one year old Damian Warner will bring home the first ever gold medal won in men's decathlon.
Damian Warner is now the first Canadian to win a gold medal in the decathlon.
The 31 year old London,Ontario native shattered the Olympic record with 9,018 points, becoming only the fourth man in history to top the 9,000 point mark.
Warner capped off the ten discipline event with a fifth place run in the 1,500 metres.
