Organization focusing on plasma donations
If you're looking to donate blood, you may soon have to go to Burlington or Ancaster.
Canadian Blood Services says it's transitioning to plasma donations in St. Catharines.
The Ontario Street location will continue to accept blood donations until the end of February.
In the spring, a new plasma donation centre will open up on Vansickle Road.
The organization says it's looking to increase the number of plasma donations due to a global shortage.
Plasma can be used to create life-saving medications.
Clinics will continue to be held for O-negative and rare blood donors in St. Catharines.
Appointments can be made by going to blood.ca.
