Upgrades are on the way for downtown parking in St. Catharines.
The first upgrades rolling in are new pay-and-display parking machines.
The 140 space specific meters will be replaced by 20 of the new machines which will accept both cash and credit payments.
The upgrades will reduce clutter on sidewalks and improve access for those with limited mobility.
New meters aren't the only change however, parking rates have increased slightly.
With the new year parking rates are up to $1.75 an hour, 25 cents more than before.
Permit-only lots and garages have also seen a small rise in cost.
