In top 10 of fastest growing municipalities in Canada
The first wave of data from the 2021 census has Thorold's mayor smiling.
According to Stats Canada, the city is the eighth fastest growing municipality in Canada.
Thorold's population has grown by over 26 percent since the last census was taken in 2016 and now boasts a population nearing 24,000.
The second fastest growing city in Niagara is Port Colborne, whose population has climbed by almost 10 percent in the last five years.
On the flip side St. Catharines' growth has flatlined.
According to the census, the city’s population has only grown by 2.8 percent since 2016.
