Garden will be at Sparrow Meadows Park
The City of Welland and the NPCA are looking for volunteers to help plant a native pollinator garden.
The garden will be located at Sparrow Meadows Park.
Pollinators, including bees, birds, butterflies and other insects, help transfer pollen from flower to flower.
This helps produce seeds, fruits and new plants.
"Many pollinators worldwide are under serious threat due to pesticides, pollution, habitat loss, disease, and climate change," said Dave Steven, manager of parks, forestry, cemeteries, operations, and development. "The City and NPCA recognize these threats and are working together to create a natural pollinator garden in Welland's newest park."
Planting will take place on Saturday, September 9th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
If it rains, the event will be moved to Saturday, September 16th.
