Interested in helping decide how much Welland City councillors get paid?
The city is looking for members to join its new Council Compensation Review Committee which is responsible for reviewing the pay and benefits paid to council for the upcoming term of office from November 2022 to 2026.
The committee will be made up of five citizen members, two of whom are business representatives from within the business community.
As well the city clerk and manager of human resources will also attend meetings, but only committee members may vote on any issue.
City officials note “The purpose of establishing the committee is to allow for an objective third-party assessment of council remuneration and expenses.”
