Testing to take place weekdays from noon to 5:00 p.m.
The City of Welland is conducting smoke testing over the next few weeks.
Officials say the testing is being done to find potential points where stormwater enters sanitary sewers, leading to a higher risk of flooding in basements.
The test consists of blowing a harmless coloured vapour into sanitary and storm utility holes, and seeing where it exits.
The smoke used in the test is non-toxic and doesn't leave any residuals or stains on clothing, furniture or drapes.
It also doesn't have any known effect on plants or pets.
Testing will take place weekdays between noon and 5 PM.
