Niagara Regional Broadband Service owned by Niagara companies
A Niagara based internet, telephone and TV service provider is being bought by Cogeco Communications.
Niagara Falls Hydro, which is owned by the City of Niagara Falls, and Energy Services Niagara, owned by the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, announced the purchase of Niagara Regional Broadband Network earlier this week.
The broadband network is jointly owned by Niagara Falls hydro (75%) and Energy Services Niagara (25%), but they will now have a minority stake in the broadband service.
The City of Niagara Falls says Niagara Regional Broadband Service will continue to provide high speed access in Niagara, while Cogeco commits to investing in the region.
