It's going to be the only compost giveaway in Niagara this year.
The Region is now giving away 20 litre bags of compost in exchange for cash or non-perishable food item donations.
The donations will benefit several local organizations including Project SHARE, Fort Erie COPE, the Grimsby Benevolent Fund, the HOPE Centre, and Goodwill Niagara (Women's Place.)
The Bridge Street Landfill in Fort Erie, the Niagara Road 12 Landfill in West Lincoln, the Humberstone Landfill in Welland and the Niagara Falls Recycling Centre will be participating.
Everyone who participates will have to wear a mask, practice physical distancing and load the compost into their own vehicle.
The giveaway started yesterday and it lasts until Saturday September 26th.
