Male beluga died earlier this month
Mystic Aquarium officials have posted an update on the facilities Facebook page saying "The veterinarian staff continues to closely monitor the female beluga whale who has recently become ill. At this time, there have been no significant changes in the beluga's condition."
In the spring, the aquarium took possession of five beluga whales, four females and one male, from the Niagara Falls theme park.
The male whale died August 6th.
Mystic officials blamed its death on a pre-existing gastrointestinal illness.
