Welland city council has hired local company for almost $4.3-million
Welland city council has awarded an almost $4.3-million contract to install a watermain along Canal Bank Street, from Ontario Road south to beyond Townline Tunnel Road.
This is to ensure Dain City residents don't have water supply issues during maintenance of their sole watermain.
Director of Infrastructure Sherri-Marie Millar assured council that Peters Excavating is aware of timing issues. "We are sensitive and aware of the one access to Dain City issue that we're dealing with, so we would fully anticipate the contractor to start north of Highway 58."
Councillor Bonnie Fokkens was concerned about traffic flow, considering current bridge construction.
Millar also told council they are mindful of recent Canal Bank Street work.
"We are going to try and minimize the impact to the new asphalt surface, and try to stay as much as possible, close to the edge of pavement, or within the boulevard, and do a trench restoration at the end."
