Donations accepted to care for dog and puppies
An emaciated dog that was found on the street in Welland has given birth at the Niagara SPCA and Humane Society.
On October 11th, a female shepherd type dog was found in the area of Niagara Street and Elizabeth Street.
According to the shelter, her ribs and spine were visible and much of her fur was missing.
She was treated for anemia brought on by a severe flea infestation.
Two days after she arrived, she gave birth to a litter of puppies.
Most survived, but some were stillborn.
The mother and the surviving puppies are in the care of the Niagara SPCA and Humane Society in Welland.
Ontario's Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) has been contacted.
Anyone who want to donate to the care of the shepherd and the puppies can do so here.
