Michael Lucid running to be Niagara Falls Mayor
The number one reason a Niagara Falls mayoral candidate says he's running is to clean up what he calls corruption at city hall.
Michael Lucid tells us taxpayers are receiving less, while property taxes have gone up 25% over three years. "And I don't see that there's been any added service to ask the people of our beautiful city to keep paying more and more and more, every single year."
He blames growing government for problems like crime and social issues. "You have the project at 4500 Park Street, that's another government project. So, we're going to finally, outside of the hospital, get another crane in the ground."
He questions what he calls a public, private partnership at that site.
As for his top 2 priorities as mayor... government efficiency and public safety, which he says go hand in hand.
As mayor he wants a direct connection with community groups that deal with these issues. "We all know there's deterioration with the drug use, and the crime, petty crime, and the organized crime."
He says he's talking to as many people as possible to raise his profile and get people voting. "I talked to everybody, every business on Queen Street, and they weren't busy, during the summer, which is shocking. I can see that during the winter, but they all had time for me."
He adds fellow candidates Jim Diodati and Lori Lococo have had lots of time to fix things at city hall.
Jim Diodati, Lori Lococo, Kevin Martineau and Paul Manning are also in the race.
