The 2026 boating season on Lake Ontario has been called intense for rescues, by the South Shore Search and Rescue.
The season finished last weekend, with 24 rescues that involved medical emergencies, boats on rocks, and capsized boats, and missing people.
The unit adds this past year won't be remembered for the 24 rescues, but the intensity of them.
The unit says the 24 rescues is down from last year's 35, but a variety of challenges on the water make it memorable.
