Jennie Stevens encouraging everyone to voice concerns of health care cuts, after rallies today around the Niagara region
St. Catharines NDP MPP is wagging her finger at the Ford government over the 98 job loses at Niagara Health.
Jennie Stevens tells us a rally in support of those jobs at the Marotta Family hospital was well attended this morning, as was in Welland, Port Colborne and then Niagara Falls.
She worked in healthcare prior to getting into politics. "Every person that's in public health care has an important position to play, to make sure the public is looked after. Sometimes it's at a very crucial time in your life."
As for saying the jobs were from COVID, and not needed anymore, she says that's far-fetched, every job is necessary.
She says people need to show the Ontario government they don't like its mismanagement of healthcare.
She shakes her head at government investment into hospitals and beds. "But if you don't have people working those beds, and paying them a decent wage, and making sure the public is looked after, we are going to continue this crisis."
She adds workers should not suffer as the government mismanages its budget.
