Starting November 30th, double dosed Canadians traveling by land or air won't need to show a negative COVID-19 test when returning home from short trips.
The federal government has changed a controversial COVID-19 border measure.
During a press conference today, Health Minister Jean-Yves DuClos told Canadians that starting November 30th, fully vaccinated Canadian citizens, permanent residents and individuals covered under the Indian Act won't have to show a negative COVID-19 test when returning home from trips less than 72 hours.
The test will still be required for Canadians whose trips are longer than that period.
Government officials also noted that by the end of the month, anyone who received the Sinopharm, Sinovac and Covaxin COVID-19 shots will be considered fully vaccinated for travel purposes.
As well, starting January 15, certain travelers currently exempt from certain entry requirements will only be allowed to enter the country if they are fully vaccinated.
This includes people reuniting with family members, temporary foreign service workers, professional athletes, and essential workers such as truck drivers.
