Not sure if plan will fly
Ottawa is making changes in the face of the Omicron COVID variant.
Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced yesterday that all air travellers entering Canada will now need to be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival at the airport and isolate until they get their results, even if they are fully vaccinated against the virus.
Ottawa is also looking into whether it can require arrival testing for air and land travellers coming into Canada from the U-S.
Meantime, the CBC is reporting Washington has no immediate plans to resume restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border in light of the rising threat from the variant.
A presidential spokesperson telling reporters yesterday, during a daily briefing, the president’s decisions related to travel restrictions will be based on recommendations from his health and medical team.
Jen Psaki adding at this point President Biden has not been advised to take any new measures.
But she adds they will continue to assess what steps they need to take to keep Americans safe.
