Charges come after Pelham marijuana grow operation was found with unlicensed rooms
Three former executives of a cannabis company are due in an Ontario court today to face charges related to an unlicensed growing scandal.
CannTrust Holdings' former chief executive Peter Aceto, former chairman Eric Paul and former vice-chair Mark Litwin each face charges of fraud, making false or misleading statements, and authorizing, permitting or acquiescing in the commission of an offence.
Litwin and Paul are also facing insider-trading charges, and Litwin and Aceto are charged with making a false prospectus.
The Ontario Securities Commission and RCMP announced the charges last month, three years after CannTrust was found to be growing thousands of kilograms of cannabis in unlicensed rooms at its Pelham greenhouse.
