The Town of Fort Erie is discouraging all garage sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They’re not illegal but the province has banned all gatherings of more than five people.
You should consider selling your unwanted items through Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
The NRP also offers its own Internet Transaction Zone outside it’s Welland detachment.
If you do decide to have a garage sale, you must do the following
- Limit the total number of people in attendance to five (yourself included)
- Make sure everyone practices social distancing by standing at least two metres apart
- Provide hand washing and sanitizing
- Limit physical touching of items for sale
- Clearly mark prices in order to limit interactions
- Request exact change or considering using electronic payment methods (ex: e-transfers)
