The Town of Fort Erie is saving money, all while reducing it's carbon footprint.
Officials say the Town has saved over $200,000 annually on electricity, after converting it's streetlights to LED's back in 2016.
Director of Infrastructure Services Kelly Walsh says the cost of utilities for local arenas have also gone up less than half of one-percent over the past decade, all thanks to facility upgrades.
The Town is going to look into new energy conservation methods. Annual consumption reports will help keep track of asset investments and highlight areas that can be improved.
