Petition launched after Town of Fort Erie recommends animal control services contract go to Lincoln County Humane Society.
The Fort Erie SPCA has launched a Chage.org petition to save its animal control services contract.
This follows news that the Town has recommended the Lincoln County Humane Society become the new provider for animal care and control service in the area.
The Fort Erie SPCA, which has served the contract for over 50 years, says they believe they are the option with the best value, due to the training of its staff and the proximity of the building.
Meanwhile, the Standard reports council has decided to defer a decision on the issue until more information is provided.
The report recommends the LCHS take over services such as animal control, humane services and licensing for the next five years, with an option to renew for two more years.
Council will discuss the report again on May 9th.
The petition can be found here.
